Turkey- Stone, Sea, and Sacred Landscapes

Physical Requirements

This journey blends hiking, cultural exploration, and coastal boating along some of Turkey’s most dramatic landscapes — from the volcanic valleys of Cappadocia to the Mediterranean shores of the Lycian Coast. Many experiences take place on uneven terrain, ancient ruins, and coastal trails with varied elevation.

Terrain Overview

1. Hiking in Cappadocia

  • Trails wind through sand- and gravel-based valley paths with some rocky and uneven sections.

  • Expect gradual ascents and descents while exploring fairy chimneys, cave dwellings, and fortress viewpoints.

  • Daily hikes range from 3–6 hours at a relaxed, steady pace with breaks for exploration and photography.

  • Terrain can be dusty and exposed to sun, depending on season.

2. Exploring the Göreme Open-Air Museum

  • Treks are described as manageable day-by-day distances with a light load—you'll only carry minimal gear; porters will handle your heavier bags.

  • The maximum altitude reached is Point Lenana at 16,355 ft (4,985 m).

  • A full support team handles luxury tent setup (including mattress and pillow), meals tailored to your diet, and gear transport (sleeping bag, clothing, etc.).

3. Mount Tahtalı & Forest Descent

  • Scenic ascent via the Olympos Cable Car.

  • Downhill hike through cedar forest on established but occasionally rocky trails.

  • Moderate descent requires balance and stable footing.

  • Hiking poles recommended for added support.

4. Ancient Ruins at Myra

  • Walking across uneven stone pathways and archaeological terrain.

  • Steps within the Roman theater.

  • Exploration of Lycian cliff tomb viewpoints.
