Bulgaria: Mountains and Living Traditions
Mountains and Living Traditions
7 days
Late September 2026
Optional Post-Trip Extension to Turkey
Price: $3700 per person.
This journey is designed for active, curious travelers (men and women) who want their time on the ground to matter. Over seven days, we move through Bulgaria’s most compelling mountain regions by foot and by bike. Active days are balanced with evenings in village guesthouses, historic towns, and thermal spa regions.
Throughout the journey, we focus on community conservation in the Rhodope Mountains, with particular attention to traditional livelihoods, women-led initiatives, and cultural landscapes shaped by generations of stewardship. Adventure with purpose means pedaling historic routes once used by shepherds and traders, walking protected mountain trails, staying in family-run accommodations, and learning directly from local women whose work sustains both culture and conservation. A portion of each journey supports grassroots conservation and community initiatives through Mazingira Conservation Works, helping safeguard one of Europe’s most biodiverse mountain regions while strengthening the communities who live within it.
